FISCHER SKIS: A LASTING PARTNERSHIP

Fischer skis has supported with the Weber family for over 25 years. We're proud to have them as partners for the coming 2018 heli-ski season on Baffin Island.

Since day one, Fischer has been with us throughout our journey. From the days when Richard and Josée ski raced for Canada’s National Cross Country Ski-Team, to numerous expeditions to the North and South Pole, to raising two young boys to become cross-country skiers and Arctic explorers, and finally to today as we begin a new chapter exploring the fjords of Baffin Island as the most northerly heli-ski operation in the world. Fischer skis has believed in us from the very beginning.

Richard recollects the Fischer E-99 “a solid, reliable back country ski with steel edges and a wood core- I have used the E-99 or a variation of it for the last 25 years.” When looking for a reliable ski for polar expeditions, Richard remembers trying other skis without any success but found his way back to Fischer after racing on their skis for many years. “Fischer has tweaked skis specially for us, such as adding another layer of fiberglass to make the ski stiffer so we can step across cracks in the ice. Or extending the no wax zone so we get more grip in order to pull our sleds.”

This spring, Weber Arctic is taking on a new and exciting journey as we finalize preparations to launch the most northerly heli-ski operation in the world. Working in remote regions of the Arctic, we need a ski we can rely on and are excited to be using the Fischer Ranger 108 TI as a great all-mountain ski to explore the fjords of Baffin Island with our guests.
